We want to extend a special thank you to all parents who were able to meet with us following Term One reports. It was wonderful to share details about your children.
Currently, students have their parts to practice for our upcoming musical "Flakes" which takes place on December 19th at 7 pm. It is going to be quite the show! Encourage your child to speak clearly and with expression.
We have our Christmas visit to The Rooms this week and an author visit from Newfoundland's Kevin Major next Friday.
We also will need some parental assistance making our very own 'Wooden Santas' on Wednesday afternoon next week. Please email us if you are able to help out!
If any parents are interested in helping with props for the concert, the first parent meeting in next Tuesday at 2:45 pm. Please meet us in the lobby by the office if able to help out.
The 'Twelve Day of Christmas' begin tomorrow! Check the schedule of events!

Parents, we are heading into the home stretch of Grade Three! We have five weeks to complete curriculum and enjoy a few year end activities.
Please have chats with your children about staying on task as the weather gets warmer. Also, please check their baggie for incomplete tasks nightly. Students need to continue to read over the next month as they can continue to make very good progress in the remaining weeks.

April News
We are in full swing again following Easter Break. We hope everyone had a great break with their families.
We are currently completing a Math Unit on Geometry and getting ready to start Multiplication next week. In Science, we are working on Invisible Forces. The students are enjoying exploring the numerous experiments in the unit.
We like to thank you for taking time to recite poems for the upcoming Public Speaking Contest. They are really coming along. When practicing remind students to read slowly and clearly with expression!
Merci,
Colleen & Tracy

March Update 😁
We have been working hard in Grade Three this past month. We'd like to welcome back Mme Young and thank Mme Penney for all her hard work over the past weeks.
The students have been very busy learning about Structures in Science, double and triple digit addition and subtraction in Math and many more things! Term Two reports will be out in a few weeks and we look forward to meeting with you all to discuss your child's progress.
Yesterday was the last of our four curling sessions. The students made very good progress with year two of the curling program. Bravo les amis!! We could not have done it without all of your help- thank you.
Our second reading challenge started a week ago. Students should average 100 mins per week in combined French and English reading. They should be well on their way to 200 minutes this week!!!!
Please keep an eye on the upcoming dates section of our website. We add things regularly to keep you all informed.
Merci,
Colleen & Tracy

January News
We are busy at work making great progress in 2018. We have had our second Curling session and we'd like to thank all parents who have been able to help us. Two sessions remain, the next is on February 13th.
In Math, we are working on addition strategies, which will be followed in a couple of weeks by subtraction strategies. Please continue to review single digit equations to 20. We are really looking for them to be done orally to support the mental Math process. So there are no sheets, spend some spare minutes calling out equations and encouraging students to make connections to some of the strategies send home (doubles, doubles +1 etc.). If your child seems to be confident with single digit addition, please take some time to practice subtraction from 20.
We are currently working on an English project on Winter, a dolphin rescued and followed by the media for several years now. In French, we are reading a class novel and are busy writing and reading daily. Students have been making great progress this week on their word lists. Thank you for reviewing their words at home.
Please check out the Important Dates section of the website. Also, a reminder that a few students are not arriving with snow pants, hats or mitts. Please remind them to come prepared daily for both outside play and gym which is held outdoors when the weather permits.

Bonne Année!
We would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year. We hope everyone shared some wonderful memories and spent time with family and friends.
We would like to thank you all for your well wishes and generous gifts before Christmas. Both myself and Mme Young enjoyed our goodies and also had great time with family over Christmas.
Next week we have our second curling session. Please continue to check the upcoming dates section of the website.
Before Christmas our Grade Three classes won the door decorating contest and as a prize they will have a class movie and popcorn treat. We will let you know the date in the next two weeks!
For the next few weeks Mme Elizabeth Penney will be replacing Mme Young. If you have any questions, concerns or information to pass on, her email is: elizabethpenney@nlesd.ca
